SECRETARY'S NOTES:         NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2003

Minutes of the 2/11/03 Meeting of the Tri Area RC Flyers.

Secretary/Treasurer called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM at the SKP clubhouse.  It seems that the President has weaseled out of his responsibilities by vacationing in Victoria, apparently following the lead of the Vice President.  In attendance were:  Anliker, Benjamin, Greene, G. Smith, Merrill, Dantzler, Lee, Mollerus and Takata, along with prospective members John Joseph and Brian Anderson.

The Treasurer’s report showed assets of $2922.06, comprised of $2704.06 in the bank and $218 in fuel inventory.  The fuel inventory consists of 4, 9, and 3 gallons of 10%, 15% and 4-stroke, respectively.

A discussion of the website indicated that a few people had seen it as it used to appear while others saw a distorted webpage which only showed information that is normally on the right side of the webpage, without any links.  No one has seen an up-to-date newsletter.

John Joseph and Brian Anderson were welcomed in to the club as new members.  This was accomplished without the assistance and paperwork of Membership Chairman Calkins.  The reason for his inadvertent absence became evident later in the meeting.

There was an expression of relief over the favorable outcome of Dick Benjamin’s health problem.  In lieu of his heart condition, it was a mystery how he ever survived his Northstar flights.

The Membership Chairman’s absence was apparent when he became the recipient of the Crash-of-the-Month Trophy.  It was the first time one of our crashes showed up on the University of Washington seismograph.  John Fitch was runner-up for the trophy and President Wylie received honorable mention.

The meeting was adjourned and the Secretary/Treasurer led a stimulation and informative discussion on techniques for rebuilding wrecked airplanes. (He could never figure out why he was asked to discuss this subject.)

Takata and Anliker supplied cookies.

Far Flung Flying:   Bruce Pyles

I had the chance in the month of February to pick up my flying pace a bit.  The weather in Arizona makes it easier to fly during the winter and so you have more choices to get out an keep and improve your skills.  Below are a couple of photos from one day at the East Valley Aviators field in Mesa, Arizona.

This was a Piper Cub with a Saito 65. The plane is normally flown in Colorado

This plane was a "Barn Stormer" with a Super Tigre 60.

Chet, the President of the Valle del Oro club fished this plane out of the swamp back home and recovered it. This was it maidan flight. Name of the plane was "Lambo Leap"

A couple of other fliers from Valle del Oro. The gentleman on the left was a retired UAL pilot

This was the plane I flew in Arizona this winter. A kit SIG Something Extra with a Super Tigre 45. It really fly well.
